Tanzania's Central Bank raised its key interest rate to 6.0% for Q2 2024 to combat inflation.

Tanzania's Central Bank increased its key interest rate from 5.5% to 6.0% for the second quarter of 2024 to address persistent inflationary pressures stemming from global economic developments. The Bank of Tanzania's decision to raise the policy rate was based on a macroeconomic forecast made in March, calling for an expansion of monetary policy actions. The new central bank rate will be effective from April to June.
