Somalia expels Ethiopia's ambassador and closes consulates, accusing Ethiopia of interfering in its internal affairs.
Somalia has expelled Ethiopia's ambassador and closed Ethiopian consulates in Somaliland and Puntland, accusing Ethiopia of interfering in its internal affairs. The decision comes amidst growing tensions in the Horn of Africa region, particularly fuelled by Ethiopia's recent signing of a maritime agreement with the breakaway region of Somaliland in January. Somalia's Cabinet cited Ethiopia's interference in Somalia's internal affairs as the reason for the decisions, while Ethiopia has not yet responded to the order to close the consulates and expel the ambassador.
