Sanofi preliminarily agrees to settle thousands of US Zantac lawsuits over a possible carcinogen.

French pharmaceutical giant Sanofi has reached a preliminary agreement on settling thousands of US lawsuits concerning its heartburn drug Zantac, pulled from shelves in 2019 due to the detection of a possible carcinogen. The settlement, covering up to around 4,000 claims, will resolve most of the lawsuits against Sanofi in US state courts, excluding Delaware. The financial terms remain confidential, but the company is settling not to admit any liability or to avoid the expense and ongoing distraction of litigation.
