New Jersey's three nuclear power plants, owned by PSEG Nuclear LLC, plan to seek 20-year license extensions to operate beyond 2050.
New Jersey's three nuclear power plants, owned by PSEG Nuclear LLC, plan to seek federal approval for a 20-year license extension, as New Jersey aims to become the East Coast leader in offshore wind. The plants currently provide nearly half of the state's electricity and the license extension would allow them to operate beyond 2050. The company has informed the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission of its intent to seek renewed licenses for the Salem Generating Station Units 1 and 2, and the Hope Creek Generating Station.
