Italy's government appeals against a ruling to pay €1bn to Telecom Italia over a 1998 license fee dispute.
Italy's government plans to appeal against a ruling ordering it to pay approximately 1 billion euros to Telecom Italia (TIM), following a dispute over a licence fee the company paid in 1998, after the telecoms sector was deregulated. A Rome appeals court ruled in favor of Telecom Italia, which sought to recover the fee. The Italian government has requested that the ruling be suspended until its appeal is heard.
