Enforcement Directorate (ED) attaches ₹31-crore worth land in Ranchi allegedly owned by former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren as part of a money laundering investigation against him and his associates. The ED has filed a charge sheet against Soren and four others in connection with a land scam case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The court has taken cognisance of the prosecution complaint filed by the ED and requested for confiscation of the 8.86-acre land plot. Soren was arrested by the ED in January and is currently lodged in a Ranchi jail.
