Delhi High Court orders Lava International to pay Ericsson ₹244 crore for infringing 2G and 3G patents.
Delhi High Court has ordered Lava International, an Indian smartphone company, to pay Swedish firm Ericsson ₹244 crore in damages for infringing its 2G and 3G patents. Seven out of eight Standard Essential Patents (SEPs) were found to be valid. Lava was declared an "unwilling licensee" due to lack of good faith in negotiations with Ericsson. The court ruled that royalties should be calculated at the end-product level.
