China's Chery Automobile invests $800m to establish Vietnam's first Chinese EV manufacturing plant with Geleximco in Thai Binh province, producing 200,000 vehicles annually.

China's Chery Automobile is investing $800m to establish an electric vehicle manufacturing plant in Vietnam, marking the first Chinese EV company to set up a facility in the country. The joint venture with local company Geleximco will be located in the coastal province of Thai Binh, with a capacity to produce 200,000 vehicles per year. The OMODA and JAECOO electric models will be produced in the first phase of construction, expected to be completed in Q1 2026. Chery will also import two electric models to Vietnam by the end of this year.
