2023 wait times for joint replacement surgery in Central Alberta improved but are still longer than pre-pandemic levels, according to Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) data. In 2023, 50% of knee replacements were done within the 26-week benchmark, compared to 39% in 2022, 69% in 2021, 50% in 2020, and 61% in Central Zone. Despite this improvement, patients are still waiting longer than before the pandemic.
