Buckingham Palace's central room, where the Royal Family gathers before appearing on the balcony, will open to the public for the first time from July 15 to August 31. The east wing, which faces The Mall, will offer guided tours for £75, following a £369m renovation programme. Visitors will not be allowed to step onto the balcony but will see highlights such as a restored glass chandelier and 18th-century imperial silk wall hangings. Tickets for East Wing Highlights Tours go on sale from April 9.
