Boeing and Airbus are reportedly considering a coordinated deal to split operations of troubled supplier Spirit AeroSystems, taking on plants key to their top jet programs. Any successful agreement would mark the end of Boeing's 20-year effort to outsource key production elements. The companies are exploring a timed "framework" deal to untangle their ties with Spirit, which accounts for about one-fifth of its revenues.
