Emmerdale fan favourite David Metcalfe, played by Matthew Wolfenden, will not return to the soap after a 17-year run. In November, David left the village after discovering his son Jacob was in a romantic relationship with his ex-partner Victoria. Despite initially promising to return after learning of his father's Parkinson's diagnosis, the character has now left the village for good, confirmed in a recent episode.
