U.S. mortgage applications decreased 0.6% for the week ending March 29, according to the Mortgage Bankers Association's Weekly Mortgage Applications Survey. The Market Composite Index, a measure of mortgage loan application volume, decreased 0.6% on a seasonally adjusted basis from the previous week, with the Refinance Index dropping by 2.0% and the Purchase Index edging down by 0.1%. Despite slightly lower mortgage rates, overall mortgage application activity remained sluggish due to elevated mortgage rates continuing to weigh down home buying.
