100+ unemployed junior doctors in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, staged a sit-in outside the KZN Health Department offices in protest of not receiving formal job letters. Despite promises of hiring doctors by April 1, there is a R2.9bn budget shortfall for hiring doctors in the province. Health MEC Nomagugu Simelane assured the doctors their situation is being addressed at the highest level of government and that they will do their best to employ as many junior doctors as possible.
