Scientists have completed construction of the world's largest digital camera, the 3-ton LSST Camera, with a 5-foot-wide lens, at the Department of Energy's SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. The camera will be mounted on a telescope in Chile to study dark energy, dark matter, and hazardous asteroids. Over 10 years, it will generate an enormous trove of data on the southern night sky, providing unprecedented insights into the universe.
