1st-time impeached Japanese High Court Judge Kiichi Okaguchi removed for offensive social media posts.
Japanese High Court Judge Kiichi Okaguchi has been dismissed after an impeachment trial for posting offensive social media messages. This is the first time a judge has been removed from the bench in Japan due to such cause. Okaguchi was indicted in 2021 for 13 acts, including making insulting social media posts to the bereaved family of a murdered high school girl, which were considered to be gross misconduct that greatly hurt the dignity of the judiciary.
