Singapore Telecommunications (Singtel) denies an impending deal to divest its Australian telecom unit Optus, following reports of broken talks for a stake transaction with private equity firm Brookfield. Optus remains a strategic and integral part of Singtel, the company stated. The Singaporean telecom provider's shares fell as much as 4.3% before trading was halted due to the reports.
