Saskatoon city council is considering building a city-owned organics processing facility, after cancelling an agreement with a third-party contractor last year. The proposed facility aims to divert organic waste from landfills, extend the landfill's life, and reduce methane gas produced from organic material decomposition. City staff are recommending a $22 million composting facility, with the project being fully owned and operated by the city.
