2023-2026 personal computing and console gaming revenue growth expected at 2.7%, below pre-pandemic levels; average quarterly playtime down 26%.
Research firm Newzoo predicts that personal computing and console gaming revenue growth will remain below pre-pandemic levels through 2026, with a 2.7% growth rate from 2023-end to 2026, compared to the 7.2% growth rate from 2015 to 2021. This is due to gamers recording fewer hours of playtime, with average quarterly playtime falling 26% from 2021 to 2023. Industry consolidation and weaker gaming release schedules are contributing factors to the trend.
