Former NYPD deputy inspector Dwyane Montgomery was sentenced to 200 hours of community service for his role in a campaign donations scheme that aided New York City Mayor Eric Adams' 2021 mayoral campaign. Montgomery, who pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor conspiracy charge in February, was prohibited from hosting political fundraisers or soliciting contributions on behalf of any campaign for a year. Six people were charged in relation to the scheme, which involved straw donors.
