Florida's Supreme Court upheld a 15-week abortion ban, but voters will have a say in November on a proposed constitutional amendment to protect abortion rights up to 24 weeks of pregnancy. The court rejected the argument that the state's privacy protections encompass abortion. A six-week ban, known as the Heartbeat Protection Act, will take effect on May 1 if Florida voters do not approve Amendment 4, which would protect access to abortion until viability.
