The Edo State impeachment panel, headed by retired Justice S.A. Omonuwa, began its investigation into alleged misconduct involving Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu. The panel was initiated by Chief Judge Daniel Okungbowa following a resolution by the state House of Assembly. Shaibu's impeachment process is the latest conflict between him and Governor Godwin Obaseki, allegedly stemming from Shaibu's announcement about running for Edo governor this year.
