Dublin City Council CEO Richard Shakespeare claims Dublin is "under-resourced" in policing, with the force struggling to combat far-right elements and thuggery. Shakespeare says Dublin cannot be policed solely on overtime and more Gardaí are needed. In response to November's riots, Dublin City Council is developing a city co-ordination office that will improve collaboration between community representatives, local businesses, Gardaí, and the Health Service Executive (HSE).
