Arizona abortion rights advocates collected over 500,000 signatures for a constitutional amendment on abortion, aiming for a "fundamental right" up to fetal viability.
Arizona's abortion rights advocates have collected over 500,000 signatures, exceeding the required 383,923 needed, to place a constitutional amendment on abortion on the November ballot. The coalition, called Arizona for Abortion Access, plans to create a "fundamental right" to receive abortion care up until fetal viability, around 24 weeks of pregnancy. If approved, Arizona's current laws allowing abortions up to 15 weeks will be supplemented with this amendment.
