38-year-old Romanian national, Marius Oprea, was sentenced to 75 months in federal prison for leading a group that used illegal skimmers on ATMs to steal data and benefits from low-income families in Southern California. Oprea, who entered the US illegally, used skimming devices to create counterfeit cards and fraudulently make withdrawals from victims' accounts. He was ordered to pay $28,974 in restitution.
