Outrage as Ghanaian priest, 63, marries 12-year-old girl.

63-year-old Ghanaian priest, Nuumo Borketey Laweh Tsuru XXXIII, has sparked outrage after marrying a 12-year-old girl in a customary ceremony. The legal minimum age to marry in Ghana is 18, and despite a decline in child marriages, 19% of girls are still married before turning 18. The Nungua indigenous community, to which both the priest and the girl belong, defended the marriage, stating that criticism comes from a point of ignorance.
