33-year-old Alex Gonzalez, a Mexican Mafia associate, was sentenced to four years in federal prison for felon in possession of a gun and attempting an attack on Ricardo Moncada. Gonzalez's efforts to improve his life, including overcoming drug addiction and taking parenting and anger management classes, led to a lighter sentence. The attack was ordered by Johnny Martinez, leader of the gang, over drug use suspicions and advances towards Martinez's girlfriend.
