Swedish steelmaker SSAB AB plans to invest €4.5bn ($4.8bn) in a new, cleaner steel plant in Lulea, Northern Sweden, to reduce carbon emissions in the industry. The company currently produces a small amount of fossil-free steel and aims to be largely fossil-free by the end of the decade. The new plant will help eliminate 7% of Sweden's carbon dioxide emissions and strengthen SSAB's competitive position.
