163 search and rescue missions conducted by Marine Rescue NSW volunteers over Easter 2024, surpassing the previous record in 2022.
Marine Rescue NSW volunteers set a new record over the 2024 Easter weekend, responding to a total of 163 search and rescue missions, including 54 emergency responses across the state. These efforts safely returned 440 people to shore, surpassing the previous busiest Easter in 2022, which saw 154 missions. Illawarra and Shoalhaven regions experienced the most emergencies, with 24 search and rescue missions, including 14 emergency responses.
