3M gets final court approval for $12.5 billion 'forever chemicals' settlement.

3M has received final approval for a $12.5bn "forever chemicals" settlement with public water systems, set to start paying out in the third quarter. The settlement will provide funds to US public water suppliers for PFAS remediation over the next 12 years. The company, which pioneered the use of PFAS 70 years ago, has also decided to discontinue its production and sales by the end of 2025.
