A draft proposal for the Independent Parliamentary Standards Commission would impose penalties for serious misconduct, including docking politicians' pay by up to 5% or suspending them from federal parliament. The new body would investigate allegations of misconduct and enforce confidentiality agreements on some complaints. The proposal comes after an independent inquiry called out parliament's "revolting and humiliating" workplace culture in 2019.
