Biotech company LyGenesis has injected healthy liver cells from a donor into a patient's lymph node in a bid to grow a "miniature liver." If successful, this innovative procedure could reduce the need for liver transplants for individuals with liver failure. The experimental treatment is part of a Phase 2a clinical trial testing the procedure in 12 adults with end-stage liver disease.
