Supreme Court maintains status quo at Gyanvapi Mosque, allows Hindu prayers in southern cellar.
The Supreme Court has refused to halt Hindu prayers in the southern cellar of Gyanvapi mosque in Varanasi, however, it has ordered status quo on religious observances by both communities. The court also ordered that Hindus will access the cellar from the south to pray, while Muslims will pray in the northern section. The case is related to a dispute over religious rights in the Gyanvapi mosque complex.
