Malaysian Petronas begins construction of its first nearshore FLNG facility in South Korea, set for commercial operation in H2 2027.

Malaysian oil & gas firm Petronas starts construction of its third floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) facility, set to be Malaysia's first nearshore FLNG once operational. The steel cutting ceremony for the project took place at Samsung Heavy Industries' Shipyard in South Korea, with a focus on energy-efficient power generation systems and aero-derivative gas turbines to reduce its carbon footprint. The facility, expected to attract new investments, is targeted for commercial operation by the second half of 2027.
