Kalamazoo faced two residential fires in a 24-hour period. On March 29, at 11 p.m., KDPS responded to a kitchen fire in the 1600 block of Glendale Blvd, extinguishing it within 10 minutes, but the house suffered substantial smoke damage. On Saturday, at 11:45 p.m., another fire was reported in the 1900 block of Waite Avenue, where a fire originating from the fireplace was extinguished by firefighters in 20 minutes. The Fire Marshal's Office is investigating both incidents and appealing for information.
