Jera Co. tests 20% ammonia replacement in coal power generation at Hekinan Thermal Power Station for Japan's net zero emissions.

Japan's top power producer, Jera Co., is testing ammonia usage in coal power generation at its Hekinan Thermal Power Station, aiming to replace 20% of coal's heating value with fuel ammonia. This demonstration project could help Japan meet its net zero emissions target. IHI Corp., the project's manufacturer, will evaluate the results to determine how to use a higher proportion of ammonia and build burners that rely entirely on the element as fuel.
