Indonesia launches direct shipping route between Batam Island and China to boost trade and reduce costs.
Indonesia has launched its first direct shipping route between Batam Island's Batuampar Port and China's Guangzhou and Shenzhen, aimed at boosting trade between the two countries, and reducing transportation costs by up to $600 compared to transiting in Singapore. A joint initiative by Persero Batam, the Batam Concession Agency, and SITC International Holdings, the direct shipping service will operate every Sunday and make four trips per month.
