India's hydroelectricity output fell by 16.3% in the year ended March 31, marking its steepest decline in 38 years. The drop coincided with a decrease in renewable energy's share of power generation, which slid for the first time since Prime Minister Narendra Modi committed to expanding solar and wind capacity in 2015. The share of renewables in India's power output fell to 11.7% from 11.8% the previous year.
