Metro Vancouver Transit Police Chief Suzanne Muir reported a 41% increase in naloxone drug overdose "saves" in 2023, with 79 incidents compared to 56 in 2022. The number of "naloxone events" has risen almost fourfold since 2019, with some cases requiring multiple applications to revive individuals. This comes as crimes against persons and property declined for the second consecutive year in 2023.
