Christopher Nolan's "Oppenheimer", a film about the "father of the atomic bomb", has grossed $2.5 million in its first weekend in Japan, raising the global box office total to over $967 million. Despite not reaching the $1 billion mark, "Oppenheimer" is the third-biggest film of Nolan's career. The film, which had been delayed in Japan due to its subject matter, managed to outperform "Aquaman 2" and "Dune 2"'s opening weekend box office numbers in the country.
