Chinese associations in Malaysia are calling for sustainable practices during Qing Ming (Tomb Sweeping Day), citing environmental concerns. Kwong Tong Cemetery, the largest in Kuala Lumpur, has hired lorries to clear 150 tonnes of waste annually during the festival. The Federation of Chinese Associations Malaysia (Huazong) recommends offering incense or flowers instead of burning joss paper and suggests taking food offerings home after prayers to avoid food waste.
