A 33-year-old mother in Winnipeg faces charges after her one-year-old child, Romeo Stewart, died from high levels of fentanyl and carfentanil exposure at home. The Winnipeg Police Service's Child Abuse Unit began investigating the sudden death in late December 2022. The mother is charged with failing to provide the necessaries of life and was released on an undertaking as mandated by the Criminal Code.
