32-year-old man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after striking a Carlsbad police officer in the head with a skateboard. The officer was driving when a rock shattered his windshield and spotlight; suspect ran up behind him and attacked. Officer fired three shots at the suspect, who was later caught by responding officers. The injured officer was hospitalized with serious head injuries.
