Teachers' union NASUWT calls for mental health first aid training and suicide prevention training at conference.

Teachers at the NASUWT conference called for suicide prevention help, citing mental health issues as a "crisis" in the profession. Members of the union passed a motion demanding mental health first aid training for staff and specialist suicide prevention training for all school leaders. The motion warned of a "rise in suicide, suicide attempts and suicidal thoughts" in the profession, following the death of headteacher Ruth Perry in 2023.
