Special wildlife police in eastern Spain rescued a variety of endangered species in 2023, including Nile crocodiles, an African spurred tortoise, and a Burmese python. The Seprona division of the Guardia Civil recovered numerous examples of species protected by the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species. Owners were often without proper import or breeding certificates.
