Southern Tablelands end Bush Fire Danger Period, permitting hazard reduction works.
The Bush Fire Danger Period ends in the Southern Tablelands, allowing fire agencies and land managers to focus on conducting hazard reduction works, such as planned burning. Local residents must follow laws when conducting their own hazard reduction burns, and require permits for Yass Valley, Upper Lachlan, and Goulburn Mulwaree LGAs until April 1. Mildura, Buloke, and Swan Hill shires also lift their fire danger periods, enabling farmers to prepare paddocks for sowing.
