Nepal mandates Mount Everest climbers to remove waste, including solidified feces in sealed bags, to combat pollution.
Nepal has mandated a new rule for Mount Everest climbers to bring their waste down with them, in an effort to combat pollution issues. The mountain cleanup campaign in 2023 collected over 78,000 pounds of waste and plastics from Mount Everest. Climbers are now required to bring two bags for their poop, which contain chemicals to cancel out the smell and make the poop solid.
