5 killed, 2 injured in car accident in Salahudin province, Iraq due to high speed and non-compliance with traffic rules. The accident occurred on the main road north of Samarra city, 120 km north of Baghdad. Iraqi High Commission for Human Rights reported over 7,000 traffic accidents in 2023, primarily due to inadequate infrastructure, insufficient traffic signals, and safety barriers, as well as traffic rule negligence.
