200 cars involved in illegal street racing were targeted in a massive police operation across Auckland, leading to the arrest of five people and multiple vehicles being seized and towed. The racers, who have dubbed the operation the “Auckland invasion”, splintered into small groups across Penrose, Onehanga and Westgate when police attempted to shut the meet down. Two cars attempted to flee from police, leading to arrests and spiked vehicles.
