5% annual tax on private schools in Abuja, introduced by FCT Education Secretariat, concerns NAPPS due to potential business harm and possible closure.
Private school proprietors in Abuja warn that a 5% annual tax on private schools in the FCT will harm their businesses and potentially force them out. NAPPS, the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools, reiterated their concern since the tax measure was announced in January. The FCT Education Secretariat's Department of Quality Assurance introduced the tax, which charges schools based on tuition fees and student numbers. NAPPS Chairperson, Mrs Rukayat Agboola, stated that the Secretariat has not responded to their rejection of the tax.
